When you’re singing together, the sound isn’t true for the other person if you go into a vibrato. Home Free sings without vibrato to keep the harmonies rich. I don’t know much about the instruments, but I do know a bit about singing. I took theory in high school and if I could find the answer in a book, I enjoyed it. From my understanding, when they do covers...they learn the actual basic song but then totally redo everything and play with chords etc etc.

You've probably already heard these facts about Ale, but she is beyond human. She has perfect pitch, she has the largest vocal range of the three, and she has perfect timing. She also started playing live, at 9, within weeks of picking up the bass. She fell on stage without missing a note. And when she was maybe 13 her bass strap broke on stage at Whiskey A Go Go and so she held it up with her leg for several minutes before someone grabbed her a chair, because her playing was still perfect. I want to be her when I grow up.

The frets on Henriks bass are true tempered frets, so you're right... Henrik generally plays Mattisson basses. This was very much jazz - which I like. It reminds me a bit of Django Bates. I remember our music class in high school going to one of his concerts and in particular I remember a song called "Fox crosses road". It was for my 16/17 years old ears - both awful and exciting... 😂

There is a lot going on here! At first there was classical-sounding piano. The bass guitar was great, and then the drummer-he was awesome. Altogether it was a cacophony of sounds that worked! I agree with Matt in that there was some jazz infused. All-in-all a great reaction and analysis. I look forward to seeing whatever you have ready for tomorrow. Don’t worry, I think we’ll all live. That thing of Aron writing the bass lines is obviously the exception. It has to do with who is the main writer of the respective song, and who takes the lead in arranging it. Apparently Aron also did the jaw-dropping gospel choir arrangement on Next To You, (although Jonah's execution of it is even more impressive). But remember these guys are classically trained to the highest level, and read and write music like we read and write text. They can easily convey their ideas without necessarily knowing how to play every instrument.
